Popular Songs of Zeenat Aman

Portraying the glamorous roles in Hindi cinema effortlessly, Zeenat Aman embodies unconventionality with style. With an acting career spanning around 20 years, she appeared in many Hindi films starring with some of the most handsome and famous actors of Hindi film industry. Zeenat was born in Germany to Amanullah Khan- script writer of Pakeezah and Mughal-E-Azam- and Scinda. It was in India and Los Angeles that Zeenat completed her studies.

She started her career in media as a writer for the fashion magazine Femina. Within some time she changed her concentration to modeling and soon was a successful model. She started receiving film offers as an actor after she became the winner of the contest named Asia Pacific Pageant, in 1970.

People may not be able to recall Zeenat Aman getting a lot of awards but she certainly altered the manner in which actresses in Indian films were cast then. Through her sensuous and bold portrayal of women on screen, she captured the attention of critics and audience after she made entry into Bollywood in the '70s. Besides acting in a few of the popular songs through Hare Rama Hare Krishna, she related to the youth, who did not conform to authority in the '70s. Evergreen songs, Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka shows the cuteness and Dum Maro Dum features rebellious side of her character in the film, which was easily portrayed by her. This film is a classic in Bollywood.

She introduced the new young woman who like to dress up in trendy apparels and flaunt her sensuality. Through the movie Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Zeenat Aman became more popular and the image of a young woman holding a guitar was widely accepted. The chartbuster of that period, Chura Liya Hai Tumne is a romantic song from this film and is being listened to even to this date. She became the cover image for several Indian magazines due to her unmatched popularity among the youth.

Because of the '78 movie Satyam Shivam Sundaram, she was stamped as a sex symbol of Hindi films. The movie meant to depict the mind being more beautiful than the body. She continued to give good performances in Amitabh Bachchan starrer Don. She could enact the roles of self-reliant and traditional women.

Zeenat Aman was the diva of that period and even now young actresses look up to her for her style. She along with Parveen Babi has performed completely different roles when compared to other fellow actresses. She shares the throne of most appealing stars with Parveen Babi and has also given some of the most romantic and peppy songs like Do Labzon Ki Hain, Hum Dono Do Premi, Panna Ki Tamanna, Aap Jaisa Koi, Satyam Shivam Sundaram and Haey Haey Ye Majboori.
