Hip Hop Artist - Simple Methods To Get A Hip Hop Record Deal

By Farah Fan

Every young and old aspiring singer want to be a famous hip hop artist just like their mentors Run-D.M.C, Public Enemy, 2Pac, Eric B. as well as Rakim and Jay-Z. These hip hop artist worked hard to become popular and if you want to be like them you have to work hard too. Acquiring a hip-hop record deal is very hard work. A lot of people think all you've got to do is create a demo tape and send it to record companies. An unsolicited demo tape normally ends up in a pile of demo tapes where no one will hear it.

It is not a secret that music producers as well as record label executives receive countless demos a day. Most are unsolicited and end up getting thrown in the garbage or get placed at the bottom of a heap. If you'd like to make sure your demo is heard, you need a contact in the record label to make sure that someone at the label is expecting your tape or CD. To do this, you'll need to make prior contact with someone internally, and get them pumped up about the concept of listening to you.

Record a demo, which is a basic recording designed to demonstrate your ability and unique style. Be sure to highlight your skills as a writer and performer. The first step on trying to get a contact at a record label is to call a recording studio and make an appointment. Get at least three of your best song and spend as much time on them as you can afford. If you're a good musician or singer, make yourself very good, and look for ways to improve further. If you're excellent, make yourself brilliant and keep working at your craft. There's so much talented competition out there, and you have to be outstanding to get noticed, so whatever your ability level, continue to work on your musicianship and the presentation of your live show so that it becomes a seamless, well-polished production for your audience.

Be sure never to undersell your song. Study the arrangements of your songs with a critical ear and edit them where needed so that they're focused and accessible. Songs that simply have potential won't be as attractive to a record label as songs that are well-crafted and have been structured to maximize their commercial appeal. Publicists specialize in writing promo material like biographies, but they can be expensive. No need to hire a publicist because they can be expensive. Include a one paragraph description of your act, detailing the genre and style and your music.

Another great way to get noticed just like your favorite hip hop artist is to visit a night club where the record label producer hang out. Ask the DJ if they can play your demo cd at the night club so people as well as record producer can listen to your music.
